We offer Scout Accounts as a way to fully fund your son's scouting expenses, if you so choose, based on the amount of fundraising that you do. Most Cub Scout and Boy Scout units have utilized them successfully. Here's how it works:

1. We ask each Cub Scout to sell $300 of Pecatonica River popcorn this year: door-to-door, online, or at our Show-and-Sell. This amount will generate approximately $90 for our pack. This is in addition to our annual dues of $50, and very nearly pays for our expenses per boy, which were approximately $120 per boy last year.

2. For any popcorn sold beyond this $300 amount, we will allocate 25% of the dollar amount towards your son's individual scout account. You may use this money to get your dues reimbursed, pay for day camp or summer camp, pay for any extra expenses for field trips, to be reimbursed for buying uniforms at the scout shop, etc.

For example, if Jimmy sells $350 of popcorn, he would earn 25% of $50, the amount above his $300 goal, or $12.50 for his own use for scouting expenses. If Jimmy sells $650, he would receive 25% of $350, or $87.50, for his scout account. This is in addition to the cash rewards that Pecatonica River provides.

When you want to use your son's scout account to pay for something, contact Pack 52's treasurer, Elizabeth Scott, who will handle requests.

Webelos who cross over to a Boy Scout troop within six months of graduating from Pack 52 can transfer their scout account funds to their new troop, upon request.

This system rewards those families who go above and beyond in selling popcorn, and hopefully will also provide the pack with the necessary money to make the pack go this year.
