Training Requirements

Ever boy deserves a trained leader.  In an effort to make sure this is a reality, the Heart of American Council (HOAC) has mandated that unit leaders (adults registered with the Troop) complete the required training for the position they are registered for.  Most of the training is available on-line except for Assistant Scoutmaster  and Outdoor Leader Essentials.

The BSA on-line training is available here. If you have not done so, you must register and set up and account.  To insure that you training is updated correctly, please enter your BSA# in your profile settings.  Your BSA# is located on your registration card.  If you have any questions or need assistance with this, please contact Gary Guider.

The following are the minimum training requirements to be considered "trained" to BSA standards for Troop positions:

Committee Member:

Youth Protection
This is Scouting
Fast Start: Boy Scout
Troop Committee Challenge

Assistant Scoutmaster:

Fast Start: Boy Scout
Outdoor Leader Essentials

Additional Training:

The pinnacle of adult Scout leader training is Wood Badge. It is a leadership and team building training that is second to none.  For anyone the is crazy about Scouting, this is the training for you!
