Transitioned from Cub Scout leadership position into Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 146 in 2017 as my son, Hudson, crossed over into the troop this year. I am excited to be a part of the troop while celebrating their 50th year. I look forward to watching the boys grow into young men on their Scouting journey.

As a young scout, Matt was a member of Troop 5 in Elizabethton TN. While participating in Scouting, he developed a love for the outdoors and for backpacking and camping. He participated in backpacking throughout college. After college he moved to Greensboro NC and became involved in Pack 23 and Troop 23 located in High Point, NC where he served as both den leader and Assistant Scoutmaster. Matt resumed his involvement with Scouting when oldest son, Caleb, joined Pack 146. Upon completing Cub Scouts, Caleb chose Troop 146, and Matt decided to participate as an Assistant Scoutmaster. The Timbs household has another up-and-coming cub scout, Joshua, who will be ready in another 4 years... we hope. The Timbs boys also have an enthusiastic sister, Abby, and a loving mom, Emily. Matt's hobbies and interests include fly fishing and backpacking, especially in the backcountry of the Smokies. He also enjoys hiking, camping and making outdoor gear. He is a software engineering manager by trade.
