Chief Pontiac Program (CPP)
Lil' Brave Program
The Lil' Brave program is designed as a program enhancement for unit leaders to use when planning their individual unit's activities. A Lil' Brave unit manual is available for download from the Attachments section at the bottom of this web page or from the Michigan Crossroads council website link below.
The 'Lil Brave Program affords many activity opportunities. Hiking is the most obvious. Beyond that, cooking, swimming and fishing activities are available. Ecology can be studied or nature photographed. Cross-country ski trails are numerous. Picnics can be held. Service projects are possible and there are places to camp. The available segments suggest the broad range of activities that are possible.
PROGRAM UPDATE: 3/10/10 - Good News: No longer are you bound to conduct your outdoor Lil' Brave activities in specific, pre-approved parks!
The Chief Pontiac Trail Committee (CPT) has revised it name designation to be Chief Pontiac Programs (CPP) to better describe the wide range of activities that are offered from Tiger Cub, to Eagle and to adult Scouters as well.
These patch segments can now be earned in "any public park within the three counties that make up the Great Lakes Council's footprint" .
You are encouraged to use the Lil' Brave program in conjunction with rank advancement activities. In other words, Lil’ Brave outings may be scheduled with the intent to not only earn a Lil’ Brave segment patch, but also to achieve rank advancement goals, collect Hiking Club miles, and earn belt loops/pins. “Double-dipping” is not allowed only when a Scout attends a Council event (such as Day Camp) where he is given a participant patch. Only in this case the Scout may not receive a Lil’ Brave segment patch in addition to the other patch for the same activity.
• The cost of the awards is the responsibility of each scout. Contact Mark Bayer, Advancement Coordinator to arrange for the patches to be ordered and paid for. If there is a fee associated with a specific program, each scout or den will also be responsible for that fee.
• There is a limit of one Lil' Brave segment per person per day.
• Each segment must represent a minimum of 2 hours of outdoor activity.
