Welcome to Pack 468!

Welcome to the homepage of Cub Scout Pack 468! We are based out of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Largo, and have been here for well over 25 years. We are a medium sized Pack averaging about 30 Scouts who range in age from kindergarten to 5th grade. We meet Tuesday nights during the School year and we also have special events during the summer. We go on many trips and campouts throughout the year as well. Some things we have done over the past few years include: Camping at Ft. DeSoto, MacDill Airforce Base, The Armed Forces Military Museum, Heritage Village, and the SPC Planetarium. We have both a Pinewood Derby and Raingutter Regatta; and we go to Day Camp/Resident Camp over the summer.

Cub Scouts are for boys in kindergarten-5th grade, or ages 6-10. The boys are put into small groups of boys in their same grade, these groups are called Dens. Kindergarteners are called Lions and it is a new addition to the cub scout program. These boys will meet twice a month with their parent as an easy introduction to scouting. 1st graders are Tiger Scouts and do everything with a parent partner. In 2nd grade they move to Wolf Scouts and then 3rd graders are Bear Scouts. In 4th grade and the first half of 5th grade they become Webelos Scouts. Webelos is an acronym for "WE'll BE LOyal Scouts" and is a transition period for boys who wish to become Boy Scouts. During this last year and a half boys have a chance to earn activity badges similar to the Merit Badges they earn in Boy Scouts and they also start going camping a lot more and doing more with the Boy Scouts. They reach the pinnacle of Cub Scouts when they earn the Arrow of Light Award. To earn this badge they have to know all of the Boy Scout joining requirements and have to have earned a bunch of activity badges. The Arrow of Light is the only award in Cub Scouting that may be worn on a Boy Scout's uniform. When a boy becomes an adult, they may wear a special "knot" award that goes above their pocket showing that they earned the Arrow of Light. It is truly the Cub Scout's version of being an Eagle Scout.
