| Most Scouts in our Pack choose to purchase a uniform shirt. The shirt provides a place for the Scout to display their Pack and Rank badges, some of their awards, and is something they are very proud to wear. Some Pack Meetings and Outings require Scouts to wear uniform shirts. Tigers, Wolves, & Bears wear the blue Cub Scout shirt & optional pants. Webelos can wear either the blue Cub Scout shirt or the tan Boy Scout shirt & optional pants. The Youth Medium shirt may fit your scout for the entirety of their grade school (cub scout) scouting years. The cost per short-sleeve shirt at the time of this posting was $24.99. The Pack provides each scout with his neckerchief and neckerchief slider for each year of scouting. Pants, socks, hat, belts, wallets, red activity-segment-display vest ($14.99) are optional purchases. Badge Magic (dryer-activated double-sided patch adhesive) are a great way to adhere your patches to the shirt and/or red vest, and is available from the NEIC Scout Store. The Pack provides each scout with his shirt Pack patches, and each Den Rank badge (patch) and award as it is earned. The Pack provides each scout with activity-segments AKA "rocker" (patch) which could be displayed on the optional red vest to signify participation in lessons, activities, events, and as awards. Each scout begins their journey by earning the rank of Bobcat, followed by Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelo, and culminates in the highest cub scout award, the Arrow Of Light. You can purchase uniform items from the NEIC Council Scout Store in Highland Park, scoutstuff.org, and sometimes at thrift stores (We have seen several uniform shirts for sale at thrift stores on Chicago between Main & Greenleaf as well as Salvation Army). We have also seen entire uniform sets for sale on E-Bay. Your Scout may want to wear his father, uncle, or older brother's hand-me-down Cub Scout shirt! Scout Store - 2745 Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park - You don't pay tax here and they also have a changing room. Purchases made here support our local Council, whereas money from items bought at other locations or online do not. Scoutstuff.org - Be sure to check the clearance section. There have been uniform shirts & pants for under $5 before. You can also find all kinds of other cool stuff on this site. Tom Thumb - the new location no longer carries scout supplies. There is an official uniform site that gives you a lot of information: http://bsauniforms.org/ Adult Leader Uniforms The Pack and Den Adult Leaders are parent volunteers; we wear the leaders' Tan Shirt and a shoulder patch that signifies each official role. |
