Scout Ranks

The advancement program for Boy Scouts of the Boy Scouts of America is symbolized by the earning of seven ranks. While you may have heard of the highest rank in the program, Eagle Scout, there are seven ranks: Scout, Tenderfoot, Second-class, First-class, Star, Life, and Eagle.

Merit Badge Requirements and Forms

Merit badges signify the mastery of certain scout skills, as well as helping boys increase their skill in an area of personal interest. Merit badges offer a chance to become acquainted with diverse, important, and practical areas in life. Troop 35 is able to offer a wide range of merit badge training, from America Business, Labor, Science, Medicine, Culture or Nuclear Energy to citizenship badges, including World, Nation and Community, as well as Camping, Hiking, Environmental Science, First Aid, Life Saving and Survival Skills.

In helping scouts achieve merit badges, scout leaders place as much emphasis on learning life lessons as in checking off specific requirements. Of the more than 100 merit badges available, 21 must be earned to qualify for Eagle Scout. Of this group, 12 badges are required, including First Aid, Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Communications, Environmental Science, Personal Fitness, Personal Management, Camping, and Family Life.
