Community Events

The flyers attached in this section will provide information about Community Events that your daughter may be interested in.  In most cases, these are not troop events and family members are welcome; however, they may be eligible for Girl Scout discounts or provide opportunities for the girls to spend some social time together.  Feel free to contact one of the leaders to post items here.

Cookie Sales

When you know more, you can sell more

If you’re making your friend a birthday card and you know her favorite color is blue, what color marker would you use? Blue, of course! She’ll love it!

In the same way, when you know what Girl Scout cookie customers like, you can sell more cookies. Check out these Top 10 Cookie Customer Facts. How can you use one, two or more?

If you know…

Then you might…

FACT 1: The number one reason people don’t buy Girl Scout cookies? They were never asked!

  • Ask customers for online orders using Cookie Club. Ask your parents for help with email addresses.
  • Set up booths in places were lots of people go, like groceries, malls, sporting events.

FACT 2: Customers buy cookies because they love the taste.

  • Open one box (you’ll have to pay for that one) and break cookies into small samples on a nice plate. No one can resist!

FACT 3: Customers are eager for their favorites because they can only buy Girl Scout cookies once a year

  • Ask people to buy a whole case so they have enough for the whole year.
  • Give away a large zip-top freezer bag with large purchases. Cookies freeze great!

FACT 4: Customers buy cookies because they want to support Girl Scouting.

  • Always tell your customers about your goals. Hang up signs or wear a goal T-shirt.

FACT 5: Customers like to order cookies from home.

Have a Cookie Walkabout

  • Teams sell door-do-door in an assigned area.
  • Afterward, gather for a celebration.
  • Just for fun, award prizes in categories such as most energy, most cookies sold, best decorated cookie car, etc.

FACT 6: Girl Scout cookie customers usually buy every year.

Save your order card for next year so you can return to your customers and ask them again.

FACT 7: When customers are asked multiple times, they buy multiple boxes.

Ask, ask, and ask again. When you deliver cookies, ask customers if they would like to buy more than they ordered.

FACT 8: Customers sometimes buy fewer cookies because of diet issues.

Create a Gift of Caring program. Customers buy cookies that you deliver to a charity or community group. Make booth signs that tell customers about this choice. Create a drop box so customers can see the donated cookies stacking up!

FACT 9: Customers buy more when you suggest they buy more.

With pretty ribbon, tie up three packages to create bundles such as “Chocolate Lovers Pack” or “Classic Bundle.” It’s fun to give away free handmade gift cards too.

FACT 10: Customers want to know they are getting a good deal.

Print out recipes and offer one free when they buy more than one package.

Bling your cookie booth!

Banish the boring! If you want to attract lots and lots of customers, it's time to "bling" your cookie booth. Anything fun, bright, colorful, energetic and creative will bring customers running. Just be sure to follow the guidelines set by your booth sponsor.

What kind of bling is your thing? These ideas are just the beginning.

Power up your posters

Make 'em fun. Make 'em exciting. What will you say? How about...

  • Girl Scout cookies are here!
  • Our cookie goal is…
  • Cookie bundles are bliss!
  • Donate cookies to Gift of Caring

Make it sing

Catchy tunes will catch some attention. Play a recording or sing along with your friends.

Color it bright

Balloons and colorful tablecloths will guarantee you’re not missed! Create savvy signage with a cookie booth overhead sign.

Set an outrageous theme

Maybe your booth will look like a fair or carnival, complete with a corn hole toss. Maybe you’ll create a booth that looks like it should be at Hogwarts. You decide!

Dress for success

Wear cookie costumes or dress up to fit your theme. Maybe you’ll be divas for the day. Or cowgirls. Be sure customers can still see your Girl Scout identification.

Wrap up the fun

Imagine a display of beautifully wrapped bundles of cookies. Each bundle of three boxes is topped with a fun bow. In the center of the table is a pretty platter with free, bite-size cookie samples. What flair! What sales!

Show off your goal poster

How can you make it shine? Customers want to see how sales are stacking up and will help you reach your goals.

Special thanks to the Girl Scouts of the Southern Appalachians for their inspiration. This council held the first "Bling Your Booth" competition, and similar booth photo contests are becoming popular in councils nationwide.

Five Steps of Cookie Success

Have the best Cookie Season ever by following these five simple steps:

Step #1: Choose a team goal

Goal-setting is one of the most valuable life skills you can have. It’s fun to pick a goal and then take the steps to reach it. What goals will your group have this year?

  • Trip?
  • Take Action project?
  • Group Event?

Step #2: Set a personal goal

When everyone does her part, a big job becomes easier. What are some of your personal goals this year?

  • Reach a certain number of sales?
  • Improve your people skills?
  • Learn to count money?

Step #3: Hold a Family Meeting

Share your plans and goals with your family. They want to help!

  • Practice your sales pitch with family members.
  • Ask your family to help you with online order-taking.
  • Ask family to accompany you when selling and delivering cookies.
  • Ask your parents if you can take orders at their workplaces.

Step #4: Sell Beyond Family and Friends

Think about other hungry cookie customers, such as:

  • Shoppers
  • College students
  • Teachers and coaches
  • Doctors
  • Business people
  • Firefighters and police officers
  • People at your place of worship

Step #5: Track Your Progress to the Top and Celebrate!

When you track your results, you'll find new ways to reach success. And when you reach your goal, be sure to celebrate with your friends!
